Sam Nightingale is a UK-based artist-researcher working in environmental media. He employs experimental forms of photography and speculative fieldwork to explore ‘spectral ecologies’, focusing on the geopoetic interface between history, ecology, and the image. His practice is research-based, reimagining the spectral-material complexities of settler-colonialism and extractivism and their ongoing environmental, ethical, and political impacts on human and more-than-human worlds. He co-edited the book, Fieldwork for Future Ecologies: Radical Practice for Art and Art-Based Research, with Bridget Crone and Polly Stanton.
